“The Role of Sidewalks in Building Safer and More Inclusive Communities.”
Applicants are asked to submit a 750–1,000 word essay that reflects on how sidewalk design, maintenance, and accessibility impact public life—from personal experiences to policy failures, and everything in between.
Suggested themes include:
- Walkability and economic or social equity
- Risks posed by neglected sidewalks, especially to vulnerable populations
- Urban planning failures or success stories
- Personal stories about infrastructure challenges or change
Eligibility Highlights:
- No GPA requirement
- Open to all majors (not limited to engineering or city planning)
