Lloyd Sachs – Managing Editor
A native of Queens, New York, Lloyd Sachs is currently working on a book about famed producer and singer-songwriter T Bone Burnett for the University of Texas Press’ American Music Series. A contributor to such music publications as JazzTimes and DownBeat, he regularly reviews books for the Chicago Tribune’s Printer’s Row Journal and Kirkus Reviews and has written on music for such publications as the Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times and Rolling Stone. He was a critic, columnist and editorial board member at the Chicago Sun-Times, senior editor at No Depression and the voice of “Sachs and the Cinema” on WXRT.
Jim DeRogatis – Editor
Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, the year the Beatles arrived in America, Jim DeRogatis began voicing his opinions about rock ’n’ roll shortly thereafter. He is a full-time lecturer in the Professional Writing Program in the English Department at Columbia College Chicago, a post he recently accepted after 15 years as the pop music critic at The Chicago Sun-Times. He he still blogs about music daily for Vocalo.org, as well as co-hosting Sound Opinions, “the world’s only rock ’n’ roll talk show,” which originates at Chicago Public Radio and is syndicated nationally via PRX. He has written several books about music, including Staring at Sound: The True Story of Oklahoma’s Fabulous Flaming Lips; Let It Blurt: The Life and Times of Lester Bangs, America’s Greatest Rock Critic; Turn On Your Mind: Four Decades of Great Psychedelic Rock, and the recent The Beatles vs. The Rolling Stones: Sound Opinions on the Great Rock ‘n’ Roll Rivalry, a printed cage match with his radio co-host, Greg Kot.
