Columbia College Chicago Library and the Aesthetics of Research initiative invites submissions for our Future Tense: Imagined Worlds from the Margins Exhibit in the spring of 2020. We are seeking work that explores various views of the future, wonderful or horrific, utopian or dystopian, through the lens of traditionally marginalized communities–POC, women, LGBTQ, disability, etc. Part of our spring focus series, the exhibit will explore our visions of the future, both positive and negative, in reaction to the imperfect present, as well as what they say about our best hopes and our worst fears.
We are looking for both 2-D and 3-D art , installations, text, and objects. Accepted artists will also be offered the opportunity (optional) to join us for a panel discussion on Thursday, March 5th, 2020 to talk about their work, resources, inspirations, etc.
Deadline for submissions: February 21st, 2020
Drop-Off Delivery Dates : Feb 22nd- 29th, 2020
Exhibit Opening, March 5th, 2020
Please send .jpeg of 3-5 pieces or media files to kbowen@colum.edu for consideration.
We welcome submissions from all members of the Columbia College and greater Chicago arts community.
