Through utilization of current and emerging research, educator and scholar of diversity issues, Professor Akintonde will impart insight through an interactive presentation entitled, Women Who R.O.A.R.R. (Renounce Obedience and Reclaim Respect) that will provide participants with eye-opening insights to the continued need for women’s advocacy in both the workplace and the world. This presentation is based on her personal experience as an advertising and public relations professional and consumer who has been subjected to exclusionary practices within the context of so-called “diversity initiatives” and comments from students who, in the current era, still report feelings of exclusion within the context of media initiatives, some of which are purportedly designed to include them specifically.
