1. You can make stuff in the Library Maker Lab! Our Ultimaker 3D printers and Silhouette vinyl cutter can turn your digital designs into tangible objects. Make an appointment in advance!
2. Our friendly librarians are expert researchers! Ask us for help if you get stuck on an academic or creative project. You can chat with us, email us, call us, text us, tweet us, schedule a research consultation, or stop by the Ask Desk on the 2nd Floor to discuss your questions in-person!
3. We have your textbooks if they cost more than $40 (plus some under $40). Additionally, any book you need that we don’t have we can borrow from one of 86 other college and university libraries in the state of Illinois.
4. We have hidden treasure on the 5th Floor! Okay. Not exactly, but hidden behind the Media + Equipment Desk on the 5th Floor we have GoPros, DSLR cameras, camcorders, digital audio recorders, projectors, phone chargers, headphones, laptops, therapy lights, two-way radios, USB microphones, portable magnifiers, DSLR lenses, SD cards, button makers, and lightboxes. Equipment check out is first-come, first-serve. Loan times vary.
5. Don’t have a Netflix account? No problem. You can check out DVDs and Blu-rays for up to 3 days.
6. We have a piano on the 5th Floor. Check out a pair of headphones and make some music!
7. Our collections are tailored to the curriculum at Columbia College Chicago – photography, dance, film, art history, illustration, business and more! Visit library.colum.edu and browse our books, articles, movies and screenplays, music and scores, journals and newspapers, and images.
