Black Student Union

Black Student Union

This week’s highlight is on the Black Student Union (BSU) at Columbia. The BSU is Columbia’s first organization, beginning in 1988. The BSU has been active at Columbia for over 30 years now building a strong network of artists! The BSU’s mission statement: “To provide and promote the unity of Black/African-American students at Columbia College Chicago. We aim to serve as a voice for black students and to establish a sense of identity, community and pride.”

On their Instagram right now, where they are most active, the BSU is taking submissions for their “Self-Care Sundays” to encourage their members to take care of themselves during these times. Another amazing thing they do on their Instagram is support their members by highlighting any business, project, or art a member submits. They are also always open to suggestions to further improve their organization. You can submit for features, suggestions, and Self-Care Sundays at their Linktree here.

You can follow Columbia’s BSU on Instagram here, join their Facebook group here, follow their Twitter here, visit their Campus Groups pages here, and email them blackstudentunion@loop.colum.edu for questions and more information.
