Portfolium

For many Columbia students, the end of the school year doesn’t just symbolize summer vacation, but also the stress of getting a job after college. It can be difficult to find the perfect way to stand out from the crowd and show employers that you have the skills that they need. Luckily, the Career Center has a brand new way for you to find that perfect career launch pad. In just one week, the newly adopted networking and portfolio hosting website Portfolium already has over 700 Columbia students showing off their best work and making lasting impressions on the creative world. Now is the perfect time to join them and take the first step toward post-college employment.

Portfolium is different that its predecessor Talent Pool. While Talent Pool was built on outdated technology, Portfolium combines the networking capabilities of sites like LinkedIn with a more portfolio-centric layout that’s perfect for creative individuals to show off their hard work. It allows you to connect your professed skills to each of your projects and highlight your abilities as a creator. And if you’ve already created an online presence through LinkedIn or your own personal website, Portfolium allows you to link to it all while keeping your work centralized to one location.

Portfolium connects to many online storage services including Google Drive and Dropbox, making it easy to upload your work at the highest quality. The site’s intuitive design makes it easy to organize your work and make your portfolio stand out. Not only is Portfolium perfect for finding your dream job, but it also allows you to easily connect and collaborate with other talented students.

With Manifest only a few weeks away, right now is the best time for both continuing and graduating students alike to get their work noticed. To sign up for Portfolium, go to colum.edu/getportfolium. If you need any help getting started, the Career Center is offering portfolio reviews as well as workshops to help students build their Portfoliums. Visit www.colum.edu/portfolioservices for more information. And if you’re particularly proud of your portfolio material, the Career Center is offering a chance to submit it to the Portfolium Challenge.
