3 Takes in 3 Minutes
If I want to create beautiful content, I start by surrounding myself with people who are just as eager to get a bite out of life. It doesn’t matter what art or profession they practice—just that they are motivated. I spend a lot of time listening. Only in community can great ideas be realized and transformed into content worthy of experiencing.
My process speaks to the importance of peer involvement and collaboration. I believe that everyone is uniquely gifted in hugely diverse ways. If I don’t take advantage of that to make my work more innovative, more creative—I’m wasting my time. The proof that we need community to make great art is in the fact that every project I’ve ever tried to attempt alone failed miserably.
We all get tired, annoyed and have a creature hiding inside waiting to chomp on an innocent bystander. If I didn’t have close friends, family, little goals that lead to the big ones, and another talent to share space with filmmaking, I would probably go crazy and the creature would have more free reign than I would like. Knowing and meeting my own needs first enables me to push through the difficult times and meet the extremely demanding needs of both filmmaking and music making.
