Industry Night

Industry Night

On Tuesday April 28th, the Business & Entrepreneurship department, alongside the Art of Business/Business of Art (ABBA) student organization, hosted Industry Night. The event was organized to provide juniors, seniors, and graduate Business & Entrepreneurship students the opportunity to meet with industry professionals and explore their potential careers.

The panel was composed of top-level professionals representing a cross-section of industries related to our majors in the department. The discussion was focused on career advice and industry best practices. Some of the panelists had previously hired our students, so that lent a great perspective to the conversation.

Panelists included:

  • Tom Giles, the founder and CEO of Stagebloc, an innovative program that helps promote and monetize creative people online.
  • Lou Wallach, the owner of Wallach Media, a production and consulting company that has consulted on projects for Comedy Central, MTV, and AMC, as well as other impressive members of the creative community.
  • Marisa Ross, Marisa Ross Casting, a top casting director for projects like How I Met Your Mother and The Onion.
  • Chad Nelson, general manager of the Windish Agency, a top music booking agency.
  • Alexandra Field, department alumna, now Donor Relations Coordinator at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago.

Afterwards there was a reception in the Hokin Gallery where students could talk to the professionals. Students that attended this event were able to make valuable connections and learn more about potential creative careers.
