Course Spotlight: AEMMP Music Publishing: Practicum

If you’re looking for a course that gives you hands-on experience with music publishing and licensing then you might want to be on the lookout for the Music Publishing: Practicum. Sean Murphy and Emily Hubbell are the faculty members who are currently co-teaching.

This semester, the course has collaborated with Music Dealers, “a high-quality licensing platform providing pre-cleared music and custom song creation for content creators” (musicdealers.com). The course has worked with Music Dealers to design a curriculum that models their business and mirrors day-to-day activities of the music business.

Students have been exposed to potential internships and careers with Music Dealers. They have also been able to connect with alumni and other current students who work with the company as well. Through this course, students are able to participate in SXSW, one of the world’s largest festivals of it’s kind. This course is open to both undergraduate and graduate students and allows you to engage, participate, and work with real clients in the music business.
