Date: 2/23/2011

Audio Arts and Acoustics adjunct faculty member Michael Freeman’s “Joined at the Hip” won a Grammy Award for Best Traditional Blues Album on February 13, 2011.

“Joined at the Hip” is a Telarc album that Michael Freeman mixed and produced for blues icons Pinetop Perkins and Willie “Big Eyes” Smith, both Muddy Waters alumni. AA+A students Chris Powley, Bob Garcia, and Nick Ledesma assisted on the sessions at Joyride Studios, where they were interning, and proudly share the honor of having contributed to a Grammy-winning recording. Michael Freeman’s “Joined at the Hip” also received the “Blues Blast” and “Keeping the Blues Alive” awards.

In addition, Michael Slaboch, Numero Group producer/engineer and AA+A part-time faculty member, and the entire Numero Group team were honored with a Grammy Award nomination in category 88, Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package for “Light: On the South Side.”

Congratulations on a job well done!
