Audio Arts & Acoustics Students Featured on Vocalo 89.5FM

Date: 12/1/2009

Students in Howard Sandroff and Jesse Seay’s “Master Class in Sound Design” are now sharing their work on the local airwaves via Vocalo 89.5FM and as part of the station’s permanent online library http://vocalo.org/node/52593. During the fall 2009 semester, students produced a number of creative, stand-alone, single-channel stereo pieces, suitable for radio broadcast. Each student was individually registered on the Vocalo site and the class as a whole was registered under the group title, “Masters of Sound.” Site visitors coming across one of our student’s pieces can therefore follow links to the “Masters of Sound” and listen to the work of the class as a whole.

The Master Class in Sound Design is a capstone course for Audio for Visual Media students. It attracts primarily seniors wishing to explore their creativity with audio art pieces that showcase the skills they’ve developed in their 4 years of hard work. Co-instructor Jesse Seay is a former producer and host for Vocalo.org, and her connection with the station is paving the way for a strong collaborative relationship between the College’s Audio Arts and Acoustics department and Vocalo.org.
