Alum Laurie LeBreton’s Paper Sculptures Showing in Two Local Exhibitions in July

sentinels

There will be two opportunities to see 2011 Book & Paper MFA alumna Laurie LeBreton’s work locally in the next month. Using handmade paper as her primary medium, LeBreton makes paper sculptures constructed on forms and on armatures. Through her artwork, she examines ideas of impermanence, the role of chance, the interplay of joy and sorrow and the futility of control.

The Sentinels will make their debut at the Koehline Museum of Art at Oakton Community College as part of a Chicago Sculptors International show. The opening is July 9th from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. The exhibition will be up until September 18th at 1600 E. Golf Road, Des Plaines.
