MassArt’s Bakalar & Paine Galleries — the largest free contemporary art space in New England — are a public venue for dynamic international art and serve as a vital cultural and educational resource for the college, Boston, and beyond. Since 1997 the Gallery Education program has introduced countless Boston public school students, families, and the greater Boston community to meaningful experiences with contemporary art.
The Curator of Education supports the mission of the Curatorial Programs Department by directing the development, planning, coordination, implementation, and assessment of the college’s gallery education programs for youth, MassArt, and the greater Boston community.
This position reports to the Director of Curatorial Programs. He/she supervises Gallery Education staff including but not limited to a grant-funded P/T assistant; teachers in the “Looking to Learn” program; student assistants (work-study, per diem, and/or graduate students); and student interns.
REQUIREMENTS
• Masters degree, completed or in progress, in museum education, art, art history, art education, or a related field
• Minimum three years experience in museums or cultural organizations, with at least two years focusing on coordinating aspects of a gallery/museum education program and/or curricular development for a gallery/museum education program.
