Info about the project and the process:
This fall At The Table is hosting a series of public workshops (and playlabs) with a culminating event in November at Links Hall. We are undertaking an experiment in social technology and community health inspired by mycelial communication (mushrooms!). Influenced by the mycelium network and their behavior, we are exploring models of community exchange that respond to individuals as members of a collective ecosystem.
We’re using research on how the mycelium function and playing with some improvisational structures, fluxus event scores, mind/body centering etc. in order to build the game.
At our first public event, Oct 19, we will introduce the first steps towards a participatory game, devised from a series of prompts made in response to the biological communication of the mycelial network. We’re using research on how the mycelium function and playing with some improvisational structures, fluxus event scores, mind/body centering etc. in order to build the game.
We will invite audience members (at both the October and culminating November event) to participate with a team of collaborators to negotiate opportunities for exchange and co-create unfamiliar models of conversation and discover resilient and responsive new forms of social architecture.
We need collaborators who can commit to at least 4 of the 6 playlabs and rehearsals and to bothMonday night events at Links Hall.
Pending funding we may be able to offer small stipends but cannot promise an amount at this time, we will definitely will offer some time credits on the Chicago Time Exchange. And love.
Please email Lindsay at hopkins.e.lindsay@gmail.com with any questions (and dates) and interest in joining the explorations.
At The Table is an ongoing series of events in collaboration with performance artists, musicians, dancers, philosophers and activists. These events bring together individuals to experience and explore performance, participation and food as a celebration of our basic needs: sustenance, shelter and connection to others.
