2015 alumnus & interdisciplinary artist Sid Yiddish’s documentary, “Sid Yiddish,” will make its American film festival debut at the 2nd annual Portland Rising Film Festival, in Portland, Oregon, Friday, August 14, 2015 at the Clinton Street Theater at 4pm.
The documentary, which was directed by Columbia College alumni Ryan Buckley (Film – 2013) with Zach Mehrbach (Film – 2012) as cinematographer, follows Yiddish’s hectic performance life for a period of four months from September-December, 2011, culminating in his 50th birthday celebration.
It also includes interviews with Yiddish and others and has stock footage from Yiddish’s personal film archives and from Yiddish’s NBC’s America’s Got Talent appearance, in June, 2011.
The film, which was completed and released in 2014 initially online briefly which had over 2600 views in less than seven months, had its soft opening at Multikulti in Chicago in June of that year and its world premiere in January, 2015 at Slagtehal 3, in Aarhus, Denmark.
The film will herald the opening of the entire festival in Portland. Yiddish is expected to attend the festival’s opening ceremonies.
