Visiting Instructor in 4D (Time) Arts – School of Art, University of Tennessee, Knoxville

Full-time, non-tenure track, Spring semester. Position dates: January 10 through May 10, 2016.

The School of Art at the University of Tennessee seeks an artist for whom the time arts are central to their creative practice. We are seeking an artist with considerable creative experience in video and in one, or more, of the related fields of time arts: animation, film/cinema, performance, sequential arts, programming, transmedia storytelling, sound art, etc. Competitive applicants will demonstrate an active creative practice through a strong record of exhibitions, festival screenings, gallery shows, and/or other creative activity. Applicants should be conversant in current issues of theory and aesthetics.
MFA or other terminal degree is preferred. Demonstration of extraordinary qualifications may be considered in lieu of terminal degree. Individuals with post-graduate college level teaching experience are encouraged to apply.

The selected individual will teach courses based on his/her creative research and multiple levels of undergraduate courses in 4D (time) arts. No committee work or student advising is required. A studio space is provided.

Salary: $17,000.

The selected individual will join dynamic, internationally recognized faculty members at a nationally ranked School of Art in a city with an emerging arts scene. The School offers NASAD accredited programs leading to the Bachelor of Arts in Art and Art History; the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art with concentrations in 2D, 3D, and 4D; and the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design. The School’s graduate program offers a three-year Master of Fine Arts degree in Studio Arts with concentrations in Ceramics, Transmedia Design, Painting/Drawing, Printmaking, and Sculpture.
