FIRST STREET GALLERY is a professional, artist-run gallery located in New York City’s premier art district, Chelsea. For more than 43 years, our mission has been to exhibit and promote the work of emerging and mid-career artists.
JUROR: We are pleased to announce that our juror this year is David A. Ross, currently the Chair of the MFA Art Practice Program at the School of Visual Arts. Ross is an esteemed art museum professional, educator and curator; former director of New York’s Whitney Museum of American Art, Boston’s Institute Contemporary Art and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. He has served as juror and commissioner at many international shows. Ross was also the Co-Founder and President of the Artist’s Pension Trust, a pioneering financial planning program for working artists.
ELIGIBILITY: Artists who are or have been enrolled in an MFA program within the last three years in the United States. Eligible works include paintings, drawings, mixed media, prints, sculpture, photography, installations and computer-generated art. No video, film, or giclees.
ENTRY FORM / ENTRY FEE:
$35/one to three works. $5/each additional. Maximum six works. Incomplete entries will not be accepted. Fees are non-refundable. Payment will serve as your acceptance of the terms and conditions in this prospectus.
DIMENSIONS: 2-D Work: 60” x 48” (may not exceed 60” in height and 48” in width), including the frame. Work must be framed, wired, and ready for hanging. Works on paper should be framed under Plexiglas or glass. Sculpture may not exceed 50 pounds. Wall hung sculpture: maximum weight 30 lbs., maximum width 30 inches, maximum depth 10 inches. No height limit. Must have securely attached wire or other fixture(s) to hang. Cannot be hung from ceiling. Freestanding sculpture may not exceed 30″ x 30″ in width or depth. The same footprint applies for a sculpture stand. Please bring your own sculpture stand. No height limit for sculpture.
ACCEPTANCE: Absolutely no substitutions of accepted works. Work will not be installed if it does not conform to the image accepted. All work must remain in the gallery for the duration of the exhibit.
LIABILITY: First Street Gallery will take great care with all work, but is not responsible for any loss or damage to work while on the premises or in transit to or from the gallery. Artists may insure their work if desired.
SALES: First Street Gallery does not take a commission on any work sold. Work not for sale must be labeled “NFS.” No “POR” sales.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: JPEGS 72 dpi ONLY (Between 600 and 1200 pixels in either direction, not to exceed 1MB for any individual image.)

The size given for works should be the framed size. Height is always given before width, regardless of whether the work is vertical or horizontal. For sculpture: HxWxD.
Files which are mislabeled or lack the artist’s name will not be viewed by the juror.
DELIVERY AND PICKUP:
All shipped work must arrive in a reusable container and include a prepaid computer-generated UPS or FEDEX return shipping label. No U.S. Postal Service returns. Do not send stamps, cash or credit card information for return of work.
Any work not picked up by the dates shown below will be disposed of.
