    Fifth National Juried Book Art Exhibition for Students

    Heart & Hands 2015 will showcase the best examples of the broad range of books being made by graduate and undergraduate students in accredited academic institutions.
    Books made in book arts, graphic design, photography, print- making, and writing courses will be featured.
    The University of Nebraska-Lincoln and University of Nebraska at Omaha Libraries will purchase selected award-winning books from the exhibit for their special collections.

    Purchase Awards from UNL Love Library & UNO Criss Library.
    Open to graduate and undergraduate students in accredited institutions.
    Entries must be bound books (no portfolios).
    Books completed between January 1, 2014 and March 1, 2015 are eligible.
    Accepted entries must be available for sale.
    Winning books will display quality craftsmanship and design as well as compelling visual and/or literary content.

    Entries must be received between March 11, 2015 and March 25, 2015
    Notification of acceptanace, return of books not selected by March 31, 2015

    Juror
    Bonnie O’Connell earned her BA in art from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her Master of Art from The University of Iowa. She teaches book arts classes and directs The Fine Arts Press, a letterpress teaching laboratory, at press limited editions of contemporary poetry for Abattoir Editions.The Penumbra Press, her private press imprint, has she has issued mixed media letterpress works on social and art issues, as well as sculptural books and assemblages.
    Her first offset artist’s book The Anti-Warhol Museum: Proposals for the Socially Responsible Disposal of Warholia was co-published with Nexus Press, Atlanta in 1993. She has taught numerous book arts workshops, and exhibited her unique bindings and edition books in libraries and galleries throughout the country, and her work is found in over 40 institutional collections. Her essays on the book arts have appeared in Books at Iowa, and Abracadabra. She is the recipient of grants from The National Endowment for the Arts,The Nebraska Arts Council,The Nexus Center for Contemporary Art, and The Woman’s Studio Workshop.

    To enter the competition:
    1. Each student may submit one or two books.
    2. Send the actual book (or books) you would like to exhibit. (Do not send slides.)
    3. Include an entry fee of $25. (The fee is $25 per student, not per book.)
    Send check or money order only, made payable to Lincoln Print Group.
    4. Complete the entry form below for each book submitted. (Make photocopies.)
    4. Package the book(s) in a container that can be reused for return shipment.
    6. Return shipping will be covered by H&H organizers.
