The Art & Design Department at the University of Indianapolis invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Digital Media. This is a full-time, tenure-track, nine-month position with a start date of August 2015.
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses at all levels and will bridge digital media instruction successfully between both studio art and design courses. This includes digital fundamentals, mid- and upper-level interaction design courses, programming for artists/designers, time-based media and/or video, history and theory of new media, and web-based technologies. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to participation in curricular initiatives, strategic planning, departmental service and development, student advising, and faculty governance of the University. The teaching load is 24 credit hours per year. This is a 3- to 4-class load each semester, depending on the specific course load credit.
Qualifications:
Must have a Master’s of Fine Arts (MFA) in Digital Media or its equivalent as well as two years’ current or recent teaching experience. Applicants must have a record of professional studio practice. The curriculum requires knowledge of new media theory and history as well as practices that include programming interactivity, video/electronic installation, physical computing, time-based media, and web-based technologies. Additionally, candidate must have knowledge of research in his/her field and must integrate research into his/her own work. Knowledge of user experience design is a plus.
