Media student Sid Branca, a thesis-year Interdisciplinary Arts MFA, will be performing both Sunday June 15 and Monday June 16 in Chicago.
Sunday at 7:00 pm: Response to RUNG: An Experimental Chamber Opera. (Prop Thtr)
Branca was invited by Beau O’Reilly to be one of several artists (including Branca’s fellow First Floor Theater company member Mitch Salm) to create a twenty-minute performance in response to RUNG: An Experimental Chamber Opera by Matt Test. Produced by Curious Theatre Branch at Prop Thtr, Rung is a Frankenstein-esque story of creation and failure and a disembodied voice. Branca says describes her response piece as a “sort of karaoke mixtape, where I’ll be performing and manipulating a series of songs that Rung evoked for me.”
Monday at 8:30pm: Salonathon: Technical Difficulties (Beauty Bar)
Curator Jane Beachy approached Branca about performing in this edition of Salonathon, noting that Branca is one of the Salonathon regular performers that makes most frequent use of technology and the mediated voice in her pieces. She will be performing with her laptop and a projector, doing a piece about her relationship with the Internet.
