The Center for Book and Paper Arts hosted Chicago Zine Fest, an independent event creating an outlet for small press and independent publishers to showcase their work. In addition to hosting studio workshops and demos, the Center for Book and Paper Arts and its graduate student organization co-organized panels, lectures and public programs. The event was held Friday and Saturday, March 14 – 15.

Visitng artists, The People’s Library, held ongoing events, including drop-in DIY paper workshops and Tactical Weaving: Textiles, Labor, and Community Action, an inspiring afternoon of craft and strategy.

The People’s Library is an ongoing collaborative project featuring libraries designed, built and authored by community members. The project transforms and re-purposes discarded books into blank canvasses for the production and exchange of local histories.
