Faculty Member Jenny Magnus’ New Book Reviewed in Chicago Arts Journal

InterArts faculty member Jenny Magnus’ recently locally published published book Observations of an Orchestrated Catastrophe clearly impressed reviewer Justin Hayford as seen in his glowing article in the second edition of Chicago Arts Journal. Magnus’ 400+ page tome contains nine of her scripts. Hayford notes that he relies “on certain salient features on Magnus’ work: intelligence, irony, foolishness (held in check by serious-mindedness), erudition, modesty, and above all resonance.”

Magnus’ work will be performed at Rhinofest, a fringe festival now in its 25th year that Magnuis co-founded, as a festival of seven plays from February 20-23 under the title Magnus in Play. Magnus is a prolific and well-known figure in Chicago theater as a founding member of Curious Theater Branch and a member of Crooked Mouth, whose  recently-released album Yes Face is also reviewed in the winter edition of the Arts Journal.

Print copies of the Chicago Arts Journal are being dropped off at various sites in Chicago in the coming days.  If you would like one mailed to you please send an email to johann.artsjournal@gmail.com.
