The Shedd Aquarium Videographer/video editor position specializes in visual storytelling through video, interactive and theatrical experiences at Shedd Aquarium and off-site. Formats include short documentary, infographic- and animation-driven instructional videos. The Video Editor collaborates creatively with the team to generate, articulate, and produce concepts. The Video Editor is detail-oriented, with aesthetic sensitivity and attention to quality. Ability to work independently and pro-actively on multiple projects at any given time while meeting deadlines is critical.
RESPONSIBILITES:
Shoot video with DSLR, GoPro and Sony Cinealta XDCam HD with technical proficiency in lighting, focus, color balance, and image composition; Use basic audio recording equipment with technical proficiency; Edit videos following creative direction and oversight; Integrate animated graphics and typography into video edits with sensitivity to aesthetics and Shedd graphic standards; Keep digital work files and archives well organized, following best practices and the department’s established conventions; Research media production best practices for technology (both hardware and software), make recommendations on purchases and implement accordingly; Care for and keep videography equipment in good condition; Occasionally be available to work weekend or evening events, and travel.
BFA or BA degree in Film & Video or similar. Concentration, or or emphasis on animation or interaction design is a plus. 3 – 5 years experience in video editing and videography
