iMAGE Unit hosted another salon on Friday with the C33 collaborators presenting their progress for an upcoming exhibition this spring. Seven InterArts students are working with three graduate students from the Creative Writing Department on a joint project the will result in an exhibition at the C33 Gallery during and after the CAA Conference in February.

The group has spent the last three months conceptualizing and bringing to fruition their project. The group decided on the unifying concept “we are each other’s unmakers.” Participants chose raw materials, which included image, video,  and sound files, to give to the group to be interpreted as any individual saw fit. At the salon, the group presented some of the new work generated by the artists and writers from each other’s material.

The salon-goers and the project collaborators then engaged in a wide-ranging discussion. Collaborators had the opportunity to hear feedback and inform the group of their intentions. The collaborators emphasized that their work will undergo further iterations and that any artist may appropriate work at stage of development during the process of creating the exhibit. The group also explained that as the project developed, participating artists and writers are working toward developing relationships and working together on parts of the exhibition.
