Book Launch Events Featuring Book + Paper Alumna

DePaul University will be hosting a “Hometown Book Launch” for the new book by award-winning, fine art photographer Jane Fulton Alt, The Burn, on November 7. This series of arresting photographs, begun in 2007, captures the beauty, violence and regenerative power of controlled prairie burns. Also to be unveiled at the reception will be B+P alumna Teresa Pankratz’s companion artists’ book between fire/smoke, that she created over the past year in collaboration with Alt.

The Chicago reception for the double works of art follows right on the heels of Pankratz’s recent appearance in Kansas City for the celebration/book launch of A BC ABC Book: Bethel College of Kansas in Art and Rhyme at Bethel College’s annual Fall Festival, which features an original work by Pankratz. The original work is on exhibition with other pieces from the book at the Mojos Coffee Bar on the Bethel College campus, and limited edition archival pigment prints of her piece were available purchase at the October book launch party.

The Chicago dual-book-release and signing event takes place this Thursday, November 7, from 6:00–8:00 p.m., at the beautifully renovated DePaul Art Museum (935 W. Fullerton, Chicago). It is presented in cooperation with The Ragdale Foundation, with light refreshments served.
