Every second and fourth Sunday of the month from 2:00–6:00 p.m., Rebuild Foundation hosts open hours at Theaster Gates’ Archive House at 6916 S. Dorchester Avenue. Visitors are welcome to browse through the books and glass lantern slides, and enjoy the rotating events, which include guest lectures, Dr. Wax music selections, poetry group readings, and book club meetings.
On Sunday, July 28, Rebuild Foundation will be hosting a conversation with CBPA curator Jessica Cochran (recent recipient of a Clinton Hill Curator’s Grant and an Association of Art Museum Curators travel grant.) Jessica will discuss her curatorial practice in relation to artists’ books and works on paper in her role at CBPA, and also talk about her own independent practice, which includes the Abundant Archive, a commissioning project where she works one-on-one with artists to realize and develop site-specific projects.
Jessica’s informal talk will begin at 3:00 p.m., and will coincide with the Cream Co. weekly General Economy, Exquisite Exchange (G.E.E.E.) at Archive House, a garden/culture neighborly exchange where the community is invited to exchange indoor and outdoor gardening and art materials from 2:00–6:00 p.m.
