Founded in 2010, we offer at no-cost, a furnished second floor apartment with one bedroom, a living room, a kitchen, and a spacious, well-lit, art studio for artists in any genre. Overlooking gardens and blueberry fields near Lake Michigan, the simple setting is designed as a space for concentrated contemplative work.The retreat is located in semi-rural agricultural Riverside in Southwest Michigan. It is just 100 miles or 2 hours from downtown Chicago by car, and 8 miles north of Benton Harbor and St. Joseph where there is a thriving arts community with many organizations. Your hosts are sculptors and former Chicagoans Janet Sullivan and Mark Toncray. You will probably want to have a car while you are here for shopping and touring. A typical stay is two weeks, from May through September.
