The City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) District 508, is the largest community college system in Illinois and one of the largest in the nation, with 5,800 faculty and staff serving 120,000 students at seven campuses and thirteen satellite sites city-wide. The City Colleges of Chicago is currently in the midst of a collaborative effort to review and revise CCC programs and practices to ensure students leave CCC college-ready, career-ready and prepared to pursue their lifes goals.
Duties
Manages, promotes and maintains the college art gallery and permanent art collection. The position provides vision and direction in creating a stimulating visual arts culture in a thriving, diverse, urban community college.
Plans and organizes exhibitions. Responsible for the colleges entire art collection. Mounts exhibitions in the Presidents gallery. Determines the layout of pieces throughout the colleges art gallery. Develops and maintains a vital relationship between the gallery/permanent art collection and the college community, including accepting and reviewing materials of potential exhibitors.
Develops and maintains a regular process for marketing exhibits, including publicity material and updating gallery web page and an institutional process for the display of artwork, including requests from various departments. Maintains vendor relationships as appropriate (e.g. framing). Answers all inquiries regarding the gallery and permanent art collection. Oversees placement, cataloging and hanging of artwork throughout the college.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Fine Arts, Museum Studies, or Art Administration and 1-2 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Practical experience in designing, marketing and mounting exhibit in context of contemporary art.
Familiarity with a variety of the fields concepts, practices, and procedures. Must have a strong understanding of the role of an art gallery in an academic setting. Must have excellent communication skills.
Hours
25 hours per week
