On Saturday, June 8th, Paperish Mess will be hosting a gallery exhibition and literary-themed fundraiser for live lit phenomenon WRITE CLUB. The gallery exhibition will feature paper and text-themed visual art from 3-5 independent artists; a sample performance by WRITE CLUB performers; live music, and a rock/paper/scissors tournament as well.
If you feel your work fits within the theme of book, text, typography or paper based works, please feel free to email Paperish Mess at paperishmessart@gmail.com with 5-7 images of your work, a link to your website (if applicable) and a brief artist bio/statement.
About Paperish Mess:
Paperish Mess is a venue focused on providing a curated selection and a variety of art mediums, handmade goods and community-oriented events. The space, along with providing an outlet for handmade wares, houses revolving art exhibits and installations on a monthly basis. We’ve created a place where those coming through our front doors, whether they be a local resident, a creative mind, or an independent artist can intertwine with one another.
About WRITE CLUB:
WRITE CLUB originated in Chicago but now has chapters in six North American cities. Dueling writers face off against each other with just seven minutes to expound on their respective topics. Audience picks a winner. Past match-ups have included: Fate vs. Free Will; Mind vs. Body; Rock vs. Roll. It’s part slam, part showcase — and all for a good cause. Proceeds from ticket sales go to charities selected by the winner of each bout. Time Out Chicago says the show feels “like a punch to the brain: 42 minutes of brisk, cut-to-the-chase arguments on life’s most notorious opposites.” www.writeclubrules.com
