1001 Salon Nights: A Worthy Goal for InterArts Artists

The November Combined Salon Night in the 1104 South Wabash Raw Space was a rousing success, with presentations by Matt Harris, Jessica Cochran, and Denis Burke. The new Salon Night initiative was started this fall by the department’s student organizations (P.I.T. + ImageUnit), and seems to have a solid future ahead as a monthly public event. “The evening reminded me once again how dynamic and interesting our community is,” said third-year Media MFA Mike LaHood. “All of the presentations were so incredibly different, and each is uniquely interesting. I am glad we’ve started this new tradition. It provides a time for students, faculty, and staff to meet together to see individuals’ work in process. I’m excited this event is continuing!”

The fall 2012 semester’s final Salon Night will be on Thursday, December 13, once again in the Raw Space at 1104 S. Wabash, 2nd floor. The roster of presenters is not yet finalized, and will be a combination of Book and Paper and Media MFAs. The evening will end at the Raw Sapce at 9:00 p.m., but following the new tradition, will continue in a Karaoke session at Brando’s Speakeasy, in the historic south loop Fischer Building at 343 South Dearborn Avenue.
