Precisely four years after Obama’s historic victory and two days before the 2012 U.S. Presidential election, Live From Chicago will provide a space for political and artistic expression beyond ballots. As the nation prepares to go to polling places, LetterToObama will bring together artists – musicians, dancers, poets, performance artists and more – to reflect about the past and present ideas for our collective future.
If you are a Chicago artist interested in being part of this event, please email LetterToObama@gmail.comby October 23rd. Please include in the email: name, description of piece (length, etc), technical needs (sight/sound), will you engage audience? The piece should be a artistic Letter to the $44th President.
LetterToObama is a project presenting “Letters” to the 44th President through art. On the 4th of July in 2009, M. Liz Andrews launched the project by mailing her first annual Letter to the White House as an act of artistic citizenship. Since then, LetterToObama has created spaces for political expression beyond ballots through the monthly online publication, the Fo(u)r 4, and live events in Washington, D.C. and New York City.
