Call for Performance Art Videos
LIFT gallery at Greensboro College is soliciting video of performance art for its grand opening show LIFTOFF. Emerging Artists should send videos documenting performance art on any theme by October 22. Videos will be juried by a panel of Art, Communications and Theater faculty and students. The videos selected for the show will be exhibited at LIFT from November 9 through December 7 as well as added to our permanent, searchable online database for public viewing. Top three jury selections will receive $200 for first place, $100 for second place and $50 for third place. Your video should be 1 to 10 minutes in duration and have been completed in the past 5 years. Please send only one video per entry. No submission fee is required. Applicants will be notified of the jury’s selection in an email by Wednesday, November 7.

Video Submission
To submit videos in the LIFTOFF exhibition, please create a VIMEO account (www.vimeo.com) and upload your video using their services. Simply click on upload a video on the start screen, choose the video you want to submit and upload it. For best results go to compression guidelines on the right side of the upload screen for information. Upload at highest quality and size allowed by your account. On the next screen please title the work, include the date, location and a one-paragraph description of the work.
Please send a link to your video in an email to theliftgallery@gmail.com when you finish your upload. Along with the link, provide a CV, artist’s statement and description of the work as an attachment in pdf format. Please make sure that we are able to download and embed your video by going to me, my settings, videos on the VIMEO home page.
Selection of a privacy setting is up to you, although if you are going to make the video private please provide the passcode to us in your email.
If the video is public, you might consider applying some sort of Creative Commons License to it, which you can do through the Advanced tab.

Permission
By sending LIFT gallery an email with the link to your video you are allowing LIFT gallery to download it and show it multiple times in the LIFT gallery space as well as embedding it on the LIFT gallery’s searchable blog database for public view, and linking to it on social media sites as well as the Greensboro College website. LIFT gallery will not distribute or screen your videos in any other way.

LIFT gallery supports emerging artists working in performance, video and social practice art through exhibition and an online database of artists’ work. The aim of the gallery is to promote scholarship of contemporary art through a collaborative process of engagement of students, faculty and the public.
LIFT gallery is part of Greensboro College, a four-year, independent, coeducational liberal-arts college, also offering four master’s degrees, located in Greensboro, North Carolina, United States, and affiliated with the United Methodist Church. It was founded in 1838.
