STUDIO VISIT OPPORTUNITY: ZOE BELOFF

We are pleased to offer studio visit opportunities for Interdisciplinary Arts graduate students with our first Visiting Artist of the year, Zoe Beloff, on Tuesday, September 18 from 10 – 4pm. Each studio visit will last 30 minutes.

DEADLINE: In order to be considered, you must email Jessica Cochran (jcochran@colum.edu) by Monday, September 10 at 5pm. We will perform a random lottery for timeslots and notify students by no later than Wednesday, September 12

About Zoe Beloff

Zoe Beloff grew up in Edinburgh, Scotland. She received an MFA in film at Columbia University in 1980. Her work has been featured at the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Museum of Modern Art in New York; the M HKA Museum of Art in Antwerp; and the Pompidou Center in Paris. She has been awarded fellowships from Guggenheim Foundation, The Foundation for Contemporary Arts. The Radcliffe Institute at Harvard and the New York Foundation for the Arts. She is a Professor in the Departments of Media Studies and Art at Queens College CUNY.

Beloff works with a wide range of media including film, projection performance, installation, and drawing. Each project aims to reanimate the past so that it might illuminate the future in new ways. She is currently exploring utopian ideas of social progress. Her most recent project is The Days of the Commune: a work in progress, which she is undertaking in solidarity with Occupy Wall Street. www.zoebeloff.com
