Columbia’s Interdisciplinary Arts Department announces the opening of the 2012 MFA Thesis Exhibition this Friday, April 20 from 5:00–7:00 p.m. The exhibition will inhabit the entire CBPA Gallery, 1104 South Wabash Avenue, on the second floor. The exhibition runs from April 20–May 18 and includes a full complement of concurrent programming, including time arts events, readings, and performances.
The MFA Thesis Exhibition features extensive artistic projects created by students who graduate from the program this May. Each artwork inhabits a discrete space within the larger gallery areas, but the artists work on the installation collaboratively, with an eye towards the flow of the entire exhibition and consideration of the viewer experience.
The complete show will represent all of the department’s interdisciplinary areas of investigation and study: book + paper practices, performance, writing, and time arts and media.
Artists in the show include artists Temple Jantu-tu Cunningham, Jenny Louise Garnett, Michelle Graves, Michael Chad St. John from the Interdisciplinary Arts + Media program; Kaitlin A. Kostus, April Llewellyn, Daniel Anthony Lubniewski, C.J. Mace, Trisha Martin, Haley K. Nagy, Amy J. Rabas, + Don Widmer from the Interdisciplinary Book + Paper Arts area.
