Book and Paper MFA Featured in Spring 2012 Artists’ Books Exhibitions

Jamie Weaver, first year MFA in Interdisciplinary Book and Paper Arts, had two of of her artists’ books selected as part of the Reader’s Art 12 exhibition at the Susan Hensel Gallery in Minneapolis, Minnesota, running from March 16 to April 26, 2012. The gallery, which opened in 2004, embraces narrative and storytelling in the arts. This year’s Reader’s Art 12 theme, “Longing for Home,” asks artists to consider, “What does home mean to you? Is it a place, a building, a feeling, a belief system, a family, a way of being in the world?” The theme is a natural fit for Jamie’s artistic focus, as much of her work centers on the traditions of craft and storytelling passed down from one generation to the next in her native Appalachia.
