CBPA MFA students work with Cannonball Press artists on A+D exhibition installation.

Interdisciplinary crossovers, interconnections, and tossed off tongue-in-cheek comments were everywhere in the A+D Gallery this past January, when Book and Paper MFAs David Jones and Kathi Beste joined Mike Houston and Martin Mazorra of Cannonball Press to put the final touches on their exhibition installation. The exhibition, Turnin’ the Tip: Simp Heisters, Flukum, & the Put’n’Take, was curated by Anchor Graphics, whose Executive Director and Master Printer just happens to be David Jones.

Although the exhibition was in the A+D Gallery, it was only natural for Book and Paper MFA Kathi Beste to join in on the group installation effort. The frame enclosing the animation video was designed and executed with the able assistance of a number of A+D and B+P students. It was ready and hung in place in plenty of time for the reception on the evening of January 19.

The exhibition runs until February 11, and features work produced by the collective Cannonball Press, including many large scale collaborative prints, print-infested sculptures and installations, smaller letterpress, relief, and screen prints, along with the print-inspired animation. The exhibition adds a new chapter to the rich history of printmaking, namely the scruffy, musky, pirated hillbilly chapter, authored by Cannonball Press.
