In collaboration with IDEA, Caracas and and El Centro del Libro de Venezuela, Mel Potter, with two scholarship recipients from the Book & Paper MFA Program, Haley Nagy, and Maggie Puckett will be working in Caracas, Venezuela.

From May 17 – June 12 they worked with a group of curated artists (Tahia Rivero, curator) to interpret a Yanomami creation story, Pore Awë (translation, Plantain Man) in a paper, print, and book project. The project is being documented online in the form of a blog (in Spanish).

Sheroanawë Hakihiiwë was in residence at the Center for two weeks with Laura Anderson Barbata and produced an incredible collaboration with my Intermediate Papermaking class at Columbia College Chicago Center for Book and Paper .
