Michael St. John has unveiled his latest kinetic work, Lullaby, with support by the Pop-Up Art Loop™ initiative from the Chicago Loop Association. Lullaby opened for exhibition at the September 2nd Gallery Walk at 324 North Michigan Avenue and remains open, at all hours, until mid-October.

This new installation explores the quiet moments before one arrives in—and leaves out of—this world. A series of abstract creatures orbit around a sphere, rousing images of cycles: planets, conception, and even a child’s mobile. This dream-scape is illuminated from the glow of an antique carriage, a light signaling the transition from one phase of life to the next.

Michael St. John is a sculptor/performer/video artist from Battle Creek, Michigan. He is currently a graduate student at Columbia College Chicago, starting his second year in the Interdisciplinary Arts and Media MFA program.
