Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department faculty, alumni, and students are helping bring a playfully reimagined production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s operetta The Mikado to the American Repertory Theatre at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Presented by The Hypocrites, one of Chicago’s most adventurous and acclaimed ensembles, The Mikado features musical direction by Theatre Department musical director Andra Velis Simon and lighting design by associate professor (and interim Associate Theatre Department chair) Heather Gilbert. The cast includes Theatre alumnus Ryan Bourque and Musical Theatre student Lauren Vogel, as well as Erik Schroeder, a faculty member in Columbia’s Business & Entrepreneurship Department. The American Repertory Theatre engagement runs March 31-April 5.
