‘Broadway Bound!’ Musical Theatre Evening at Columbia College on March 17 Benefits Sarah Siddons Society Scholarships Program

The Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department will host Broadway Bound!, an evening of musical theatre presented by the Sarah Siddons Society, on Tuesday, March 17. This festival of young talent performing a program of scenes and songs is presented in partnership with Columbia College Chicago, Northwestern University’s School of Communication, and Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of Performing Arts. The show–a fundraiser for the Sarah Siddons Society’s scholarship program–starts at 7:30 PM at the Columbia College Chicago Theatre Center’s Getz Theatre, 72 E. 11th St. For more information and to reserve tickets, call 847-446-4140. General admission is $25. Students from the Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department, Northwestern University, and Roosevelt University will perform. The Columbia contingent includes Emily Bailey (singing “Old Devil Moon”), Paige Daigle (singing “With Him”), Ren Griffith (singing “Kindergarten Boyfriend”), Dakota Hughes (singing “The Girl in 14G”), Courtney Mack (singing “Everything I Know”), Benjamin Nichols (singing “It Hurts Me”),  Katie Lee Taylor (singing “I Could Be Jewish For You”), and Brittany Wolf (singing “Blue Horizon”)–all seniors in Columbia’s BFA program in Musical Theatre Performance–and Acting BFA student Kyle Ryan (singing “Lonely Room” from Columbia’s current production of Oklahoma!).

The Sarah Siddons Society funds scholarships to promising theatre students at top drama departments in the Chicago area, including Columbia College, Northwestern University, Roosevelt University, and DePaul University. The organization, named in honor of 18th-century Shakespearean actress Sarah Siddons, was established in 1952 to honor acting talent.
