Columbia College Chicago Seeking Proposals For Expanded Artists’ Books
COLUMBIA COLLEGE CHICAGO SEEKING PROPOSALS FOR EXPANDED ARTISTS’ BOOKS
NEA “Arts in Media” grant to support two $10,000 commissions for new artworks for the iPad
WHAT: The Center for Book and Paper Arts at Columbia College Chicago is seeking artists’ proposals for Expanded Artists’ Books, a grant-funded electronic publishing initiative.
The Expanded Artists’ Books project is funded by an “Arts in Media” grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), and will support two $10,000 commissions for new artworks for the iPad with physical counterparts that intersect, modulate or inform the digital components of the artwork.
The project addresses the primary challenges of book and media art, allowing book art to become more accessible through electronic distribution and media art to gain longevity through a physical representation in book form. Artists are challenged to explore how the artwork can take both virtual and physical manifestations and how the relationship between the two can be leveraged to provide a comprehensive work.
WHEN: Proposals must be received by midnight, September 15.
WHERE: The proposal application can be downloaded at: http://www.colum.edu/Academics/Interarts/pdfs/EAB_APPLICATION_FINAL_v1.docm
