Saying Goodbye to My Ambassador Days

IMG_0841

Columbia College Chicago

I can’t believe my days as a graduate student ambassador have finally come to an end. What an amazing opportunity it truly was! I had such a blast representing the dance/movement therapy & counseling program these past two years, and I feel I should spend my last blog spilling the beans about how awesome it truly was.

When Passions Collide

Before I officially moved out of Chicago, I had the opportunity to collaborate with my good friend and amazing photographer, Brad McCree. We had always played around with idea of how incredibly fun it would be to combine both of our passions and spend a day taking dance pictures together in the city. So with my departure coming up so quickly, we decided to do just that. Brad and I spent the entire day playing in the city, going to all of our favorite locations, and discovering new ones. It was a beautiful Chicago day—and it was the perfect way for me to say goodbye to this fantastic city.

Driving home

My coursework is finally complete, and two years have completely flown by. With this time of the year finally arriving, I had some really important decisions to make. One of the biggest decisions was deciding where I was going to live! After much deliberation, and weighing of the pros and cons—I decided that moving back home to the mitten state was the best choice for me. This past week was filled with packing, hauling, moving, and fabulous farewell dinners.

I can’t even believe we’ve come to the end. Research Celebration, Manifest, and Commencement truly made for one of the most beautiful and emotional weeks I’ve ever had. I am absolutely full of pride, joy, and appreciation for my family, cohort, and faculty. WE DID IT! We are officially done with the first chapter of this journey, and we are finally moving on to the next big step!

I cannot believe that my journey of graduate school is coming to a close. I have made so many incredible memories here in Chicago and I have grown tremendously. Now that coursework is coming to a close, it is finally time to start wrapping up some of our biggest projects and prepare to walk across that stage! However these last tasks are some of the most influential elements of our graduate journey thus far; so of course we need to pour every last ounce of our heart and soul into them…

The ADTA serves students, professionals, dancers, somatic practitioners, and retirees alike—providing a multitude of support through various online databases, discussion forums and scholarly research.

Passing the Torch

The time has finally come for me to say goodbye to my role as the president of MOVED, and officially pass the torch on to the next lucky recipient! It has been such an amazing year. I have learned so much more about the realities of collaboration, accountability, perseverance, expectation, delegation and inspiration. MOVED has also shown me just how influential our dance/movement therapy community can truly be!

Escaping the Chicago Cold

Haiti

There’s no denying that this winter has hit all of us incredibly hard. Chicago has had record-breaking lows this winter, including the coldest February reported in over 140 years. Brr—not a record I’m particularly excited to break. Luckily, I had the opportunity to escape from some of the treacherous cold, and went on a fabulous cruise!
