The Columbia Connection

The Columbia Connection

Wow, I can’t believe it… I’ve officially finished one full year in the Journalism, MA program.

What started out as a three-week intensive boot camp at the end of August has now become the completion of two-thirds of the program.

That’s right, only one semester stands between me and my master’s degree.

On top of all the great projects and opportunities I’ve had this semester, including my amazing internship at NBC, one of the things I’m most proud of is my final project for my Reporting and Producing TV News, The Columbia Connection.

Throughout the entire semester, our class worked on packages that were eventually edited together along with our taped news broadcast. I, along with three of my fellow classmates, had the opportunity to anchor half of the newscast.

As a person who has always dreamed of anchoring, talk about a rush!

The entire process was amazing. Being involved from start to finish, through story creation, interviewing, filming and editing, it really gave us the chance to learn as much as we could.

Having this class as our first exposure to the craft was incredibly helpful and gave me the chance to see if it is what I really want to do. I’m so excited to continue my studies in the fall!
