So, No One Told You Life Was Gonna Be This Way?

So, No One Told You Life Was Gonna Be This Way?

More than halfway through the semester and I’m already feeling it.

Was I ready for it? In a word…

Not even close.

What am I feeling, you ask?

The burn. The moment where everything you’ve been doing and all of that running on empty finally hits you. Stress becomes the new norm and you see less of your bed and more of your desk.

Eventually, it feels like you go from this…

Oh, young and naïve Brit Brit

…to this.

Yes, you do.

Yeah, it’s not pretty.

Now, being out of school for close to three years made this moment even harder. I thought the more I pushed myself and the faster I went, the less likely the burn would be.

Well…

Trust me, you don’t.

Talk about a wakeup call.

However, there is a light at the end of this long and dark tunnel: my cohort.

From day one, our Lucky 13 have been there for each other, no matter what. Any time someone feels like they might slip, there’s always another person to help. It’s like the saying goes, it really does take a village.

Without that support, I don’t know what I would do.

Becoming one of these little rascals is one of the best things I could have ever gotten from coming to Columbia. Hands down.

“I’ll be there for you. ‘Cause you’re there for me too.”

Couldn’t have said it better myself.
