Ahh, the most wonderful time of the year! Winter Solstice, upcoming religious Holy Days, Community gatherings and family rituals abound. A time of renewed focus and energy, for momentum to take us to new directions. At the end of an amazing first semester, I found myself holding a piece of bittersweet in the palms of my hands. How delicious was this experience!? How did the time go by so fast? I’m glad I savored each moment. I wonder if I sat in long enough? Dug in hard enough? Loved it all sincerely enough?

I am, regardless, most certain, that this time will remain strong with me…so I penned a pretty looking poem about it. I’d like to share it:

[btw, as legend would have it:     ≈: it      Ω: gone         ♥:whenever]

I was moved to create this piece, to summarize what I feel this past semester—my first of Graduate school, and within the Interdisciplinary Art program—has left me with. It is an impression of broken boundaries, and blended forms, whole pieces, and fragmented masterpieces. I have been, and will remain, so thankful for the opportunity to be expanded creatively, and this time of the year makes me most aware of the fact that I have been given a gift so equal to the sun, moon, and stars. May we all continue to appreciate the freedom push boundaries, and remain true to the purpose of our form: expression. Enjoy this wonderful time of new beginnings! Happy celebrating!
