Most of Those Are Books

Most of Those are Books

If you recall from my last post, I recently signed for a new apartment. Well, now moving day is almost here! I’ve been trying to get my stuff together and pack this place up, but let me tell you, in a space as small as my current apartment, it’s hard to find a place to put all the boxes. I’ve been packing bit by bit over the past couple days and will have every moved in on Sunday.

What else have I been up to since my last post?

Book Fortin'

First, there was the Pitchfork Festival where I spent most of my time at the Book Fort, but did get a chance to check out some excellent bands, including Neutral Milk Hotel, who I have been wanting to see for years! At the Book Fort I got the chance to hear some amazing readings thanks to Tiny Hardcore, Curbside Splendor, Pitchfork, CCLaP, POETRY, Columbia College Chicago, and The Marrow.

I’ve also been taking some time to enjoy my neighborhood and the city. Last Sunday a poet friend and I checked out the Poetry Slam at the Green Mill, a short bus ride north of us. It was a great time with a really engaged audience. And we ended up being judges of the slam!

In addition to packing and poetry, I’ve been gearing up for orientation and the fall semester. I can’t wait to meet the newest cohorts of MFA students in the Department of Creative Writing and I’m equally excited to meet my new class of Writing and Rhetoric I students.

Anyways, I gotta get back to packing. Expect more details on the new place, orientation, and new semester in my next post!
