I’m learning a lot this week.

First of all, let’s talk about CTA buses. For some reason, buses used to intimidate the hell out of me. I was so confused about them. So many routes, so many stops, so many…strangers. I finally learned how to navigate this grand city via bus after I exchanged words with a middle aged business man who thought he could micromanage my cab-hailing at Union Station.

And that is all I’ll say about him.

Anyway, buses are great. They lumber through the city at a snail’s pace, heaving as they stop and go every other second. For some reason, I don’t get motion sick, even though I do in a car and on the L. It’s fascinating.

I’m learning how to read on public transportation, rather than looking nervously out the window, or angrily at the person next to me chewing his/her gum too loud. Progress!

I’m also learning Vegas Pro at my internship. I think learning Final Cut Pro last semester is helping me catch on more quickly, but I’m not sure. I can’t wait to be fully trained and start reporting.

The internship is also reinforcing my hatred for fluorescent lights. I get a headache every day by 2:30 pm. That could be due, in part, to the horrible Starbucks downstairs, which is causing me to involuntarily withdraw from coffee.

Oh, and wearing giant headphones all day does amazing things for your hair if you like midday bed head.
