She will be working on a book project for the next issue of the Journal of Artists’ Books (JAB34), which is scheduled to release in fall of 2013. Based in Portugal, Isabel Baraona graduated in Painting and Tridimensional Studies at LA Cambre, Brussels, Belgium, 2002. Chicago-based artists Miller & Shellabarger will work in the paper studios from July 8 through 19. Dutes Miller & Stan Shellabarger work collaboratively and independently, producing interdisciplinary works in sculpture, performance, artists’ books, prints, and installation, all investigating the body in relation to gender and sexuality. During their residency they will  produce a suite of hand made papers with watermarks depicting silhouettes of their full bodies. This particular work grows out of their ongoing “garlands” project, where they use folded paper to create cut out various expressive paper silhouettes. Their work has been shown internationally and supported by Artadia, the Peter S. Reed Foundation, and the Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation, and they are represented by Western Exhibitions. A presentation by the artists will be held at CBPA on Thursday, July 18, at 6:00 p.m.
