The opening in Shenzhen, China of what may be the largest museum in the world for printmaking will coincide with the 2014 Guanlan International Print Conference. Anchor Graphics’ David Jones will be participating in this noteworthy eight-day event as speaker, academic panelist, and invited guest artist. Conference organizers have scheduled a comprehensive printmaking fair and many conference lecture and panel events, but have also left plenty of time for collaborative art making among the conference participants. Event organizers have designed the incubation space and time of the conference to spark new international connections, and facilitate the creation of groundbreaking new work in print media.
The Guanlan Original Printmaking Base is one of the largest printmaking organizations in the world, jointly established by Shenzhen Bao’an District People’s Government, Shenzhen Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the China Artists Association. Among their initiatives are spacious print workshop facilities, an artists’ village and artists’ residency program, museum exhibition galleries and a special collection, and an international printmaking fair. The 2014 Conference will take place May 11–18, at the Base’s extensive academic campus.
